Publications - Secrets of Electronic Commerce
A Guide for Small and Medium-Sized Exporters
Together with the book in interactive CD-Rom format TRADE SECRETS - An Answer Book for Small and Medium-Sized Exporters, the Argentine Chamber of Exporters (CERA) launched the publication SECRETS OF ELECTRONIC COMMERCE - A Guide for Small and Medium-Sized Exporters.
This work reviews electronic commerce in whole, introducing the reader to it from the basic question: what is electronic commerce?
How the WWW (World Wide Web) - known today as the internet- was started and its relevance to business; step-by-step, along its 13 chapters and 4 annexes, the book addresses, for example, development and strategy through the internet and the use of electronic commerce; what makes a good website, characteristics and design (successful European and American companies are showcased); market research and communication techniques.
The book focuses also on the legal aspects of this new trading system; online buying and selling; security and encriptation, digital signature, safe transactions; arguments in favour and against taxing internet transactions, financial aspects, etc.
ITC decided to research and publish a practical and well-balanced guide to answer the leading questions asked by businessmen in developing countries. It was designed so that anyone could understand this new way of doing business.
Unfortunately, the majority of small and medium-sized firms (SMEs) in emerging and in transtion economies are not clear on how this new tool could benefit business, communications, market and sales. They have many questions on commercial, organizational and regulatory aspects.
We must learn from developed countries who rapidly embraced electronic commerce as a financially viable means to do business-to-business, business-to-consumer, in order to diversify their markets and improve profitability. "We must take advantage of the benefits derived from the global economy. This is a good opportunity to think of e-commerce in practical terms, considering it will play a leading role in the trade revolution of the early XXIst century.”
